This year one of our goals was to engage with the community. Luckily for us, we are surrounded by amazing people. People with an interest in fitness. Through a chance encounter, we met Mario Addison. Addison is a Defensive End for the NFL's Carolina Panthers. Addison is a native of Birmingham where he attended Tarrant High School. He then continued his pursuit of football at Troy University.
Addison entered the NFL in 2011 with the Chicago Bears and later had short stints with the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins before signing with the Panthers in 2012. Addison has made his mark in the NFL during his tenure with the Panthers. He had a career-high 9.5 sacks & 32 tackles during the 2016 season and helped the Panthers to finish second in the NFL with 47 total sacks.
Addison partnered with Wright to outfit his Birmingham, Alabama home with various weight training equipment during the offseason. Addison placed a full array of Wright Equipment in his garage gym including a P-100 Half Rack, a WRIGHT barbell, Wright USA crumb rubber bumper plates, rubber grip bumper plates, wood plyobox, rubber hex dumbells, and of course Wright apparel!
We're happy that Addison chose Wright Equipment to outfit his home gym but we're even prouder of his commitment to the community. Addison held a football camp for about 1,000 students. WIAT 42 did an interview with Addison to discuss this. Addison also worked with the Birmingham Housing Authority earlier in the summer to speak to and mentor 180 kids during the "Man to Man" event held at a local community center. Taking time out for the community even when you're an amazing NFL player is a great way to give back.
We're glad to have a partnership with Mario and look forward to seeing him in the 2017 season!
